リリースされてしばらく経つがいまいちブームに乗り切れていない気がするFlex。面白そうと思ってFlex Builder 3をしばらく前にダウンロードしたが、最近ちょっとご無沙汰している。でも一部の人には役に立つ情報だと思うので、エントリーしておく。
Flexを使うとFlashアプリケーションをプログラミングベースで作ることができる。Flexデベロッパーセンターには様々なサンプルが掲載されていて面白い。
Flexアプリケーションを作るためにはFlex 3 SDKというのをAdobeのサイトからダウンロードする必要がある。すごいのはこのSDKが無料だということ。だからちょっと面白そうだから試してみようと思ったら気軽に始めることができる。開発環境が付いたFlex Builder 3 Standardとか、グラフコンポーネントが使えるProfessionalは有料だ。
しかし更にすごいのは、全部入りのProfessionalが、教育機関向けだと無償ダウンロードできるのだ。学生証を提示すれば無料になるという。

学生個人がライセンスを受けるためにはワールドワイド申請窓口（英語）から申し込む。英語だけど手続きはそれほど難しくない。
学生証のスキャンを準備しておいて、申し込みフォームに添付するだけ。
これだけでライセンスを受けられるから、学生または教育関係者だったら申し込んで損はない。
SDKとStandard/Professionalのいちばんの違いは、コンポーネントを視覚的にレイアウトできることだろう。
↑コードを書いてmxmlファイルをBuildするとswfファイル、つまりFlashが出来上がる。
↑Flex Builderだとボタンやテキストエリアなどのコンポーネントを視覚的にレイアウトできる。
ちなみにコンポーネントのサンプルはAdobe Flex 3 Component Exploreで確認できる。うーんステキ☆
